Sadhana was set up in 2009 by its director Subathra Subramaniam to continue her exploration of the confluence of arts and science. Sadhana derives from the Sanskrit word for the pursuit of a spiritual goal, combining perfection of execution with study.

Suba’s contemporary dance works aim to be provocative, though-provoking and visually charming. Although rooted in classical Bharata Natyam vocabulary, Suba’s choreography goes beyond the form to explore scientific concepts that are fundamental to us and our existence. Sadhana’s distinctive, engaging works are a result of cross art collaborations and extended periods of research undertaken with scientists or in scientific and academic institutions.
